Eco Friendly Ways to Remove Cooking Odors

Air fresheners are some of the most toxic products in the home. Did you know most air fresheners contain chemicals that numb your nose so you can't smell odors? These air fresheners including plug ins, are highly toxic. Leave them on the store shelf.

Let's find a greener way to remove cooking odors. If linger cooking odors don't tickle your fancy, simmer a pan of water for five or six minutes adding a fourth cup of food grade distilled white vinegar.

For microwaves (read up on the dangers of using them) place a 50/50 solution of white vinegar to water in a coffee cup in the microwave. Cook on high for 3 to 4 minutes. If that fails to deter those stubborn odors, place a few briquettes of charcoal on a paper towel and leave in the microwave. Charcoal is far better at removing odors than baking soda.

Next pick up a copy of Mary's Complete Idiot's Guide To Green Cleaning for an entire chapter on how to keep indoor air fresh and remove toxic fumes using plants and other natural air fresheners.
